Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church will be the setting for a celebration of the life of devoted member Michele Hasley at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 26.

Hasley, director of Griever’s Journey, a grief support ministry program, died May 3. An obituary will be published closer to the service.

Her incredible faith, contagious smile and unwavering support of the Pittsburgh Steelers describe her personality.

Hasley, a member of the board of deacons at her church, had the reputation of being the first individual to come to the aid of her church family and grief-stricken individuals.

She chronicled church and community events with her camera, frequently sharing photos with The Fountain Hills Times.

Even when Hasley was diagnosed with malignant melanoma, she remained positive and optimistic.

When she decided not to proceed with an invasive operation to remove the disease from her lymph nodes, she sent acquaintances a note in which she said, “Well, I finally pulled the plug.

“After going to my oncologist and having him want to fit me for a mask and do radiation on my metastasized brain cancer… and not much hope of/or promises of getting more quality time, through prayerful meditation and the Lord's guidance, I’ve decided to spend the last time I have left, however the Lord wants to use me here…

“I’ve already been blessed with a very full life, an amazing husband (Andy), family, church family, extended Christian family and an amazing town that I’ve joyfully spent the last 21 years in.

“Feeling blessed, feeling so loved, feeling peaceful and resolute and ready to make the journey home, whenever He wants to take me.”
