I was very happy to read that our town council had decided to review the recently announced rental rates for the Community Center.
To do away with any discount for Fountain Hills charitable and non-profit organizations and treat them as for-profit organizations or non-Fountain Hills residents would effectively be removing the “Community” from Community Center and rendering it the Fountain Hills Center. Similarly with the new fee schedule to require the rental of two ballrooms (instead of just one) on weekends.
Most of these nonprofit and charitable organizations provide a lot to the town and cannot afford the extra costs. Some, if not most, will find other locations to meet that are less expensive or will disband.
