The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality is issuing a Health Watch for particulate pollution for Wednesday, Dec. 31.
ADEQ analysts are forecasting that a Pacific storm will clear by late in the day New Year’s Eve providing the potential for particulate pollution levels that approach the federal hazard standard.
ADEQ is also indicating that particulate pollution for New Years Day will exceed the federal standard leading to a High Pollution Advisory for Thursday, Jan. 1.
The pollution watch and advisory will trigger the county air quality regulations banning wood burning in fireplaces and outdoor fire pits. The regulations also restrict use of dust blowers for commercial use.
Individuals with health and respiratory problems are urged to avoid exertion and remain indoors during the pollution advisory.
