Ice cream franchise enters special use permit phase

There are plans in place to bring back a Dairy Queen drive-thru to Fountain Hills.

While it may be a while before locals can order a Blizzard, a chicken strip basket or a banana split, plans are underway to bring Dairy Queen back to Fountain Hills.

After more than 20 years, the beloved ice cream chain is slated to return to its original location at the corner of Palisades and Saguaro boulevards, where the town’s first Dairy Queen once stood.

The project remains in the early stages of development, with construction and tenant improvements still to come.
