An update on Mayo Clinic in Arizona was a feature of the club’s most recent meeting.

Marion Kelly, Mayo director of community and business relations, gave a presentation on the clinic’s plans for its two area campuses.

The Scottsdale Shea campus, adjacent to Fountain Hills, will be the site of Mayo’s new medical school. The first class of 50 will begin their studies in 2017, with eventual expansion planned to 200 students.

The nearby location will also continue to be a center for Mayo’s research efforts, and is planned to be the location for outpatient primary care physician offices.

The meeting also featured several awards to Fountain Hills organizations that benefit the local community and its citizens.

Golden Eagle Education Foundation, an umbrella organization that sponsors the Fountain Hills School Mentor Program and also provides support for student scholarships, staff recognition, and classroom projects, was the recipient of an award.

Rotarian Paul Perreault presented a check for $1,000 to foundation representative Jeannie Ryan.

The club’s Teacher of the Month award went to Terry Wright, a teacher at McDowell Mountain Elementary School. She was nominated by Principal Valerie Dehombreaux.

Four Peaks also presented a check to Sons of AMVETS representative Al Montalbano. It represented half the proceeds from sponsored golf holes at the club’s recent charity golf tournament.

Four Peaks Rotary welcomes visitors, and those interested in the club and Rotary are invited to the next meeting Thursday, May 28.

Meetings are from 6:45 to 8 a.m. at Fountain View Village, 16455 E. Avenue of the Fountains. Enter at the main entrance next to the flagpole.
