Each year our floats (Fountain Hills Presbyterian Church) in the Thanksgiving Parade try hard to represent the announced theme for that year’s parade. Following this year’s theme, “Southwest Christmas,” we created a “Sonoran Christmas” featuring cartoon-like cacti dressed as snowmen and snowwomen.
However, it seems that all the winning entries this year had nothing to do with the theme. My point is, why even have a theme if it isn’t even used in the judging of the entries? Better yet, why not award a prize for the entry best exhibiting that theme?
