Pancake Breakfast
Posted
The Noon Kiwanis Club is conducting its second annual pancake breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 1.
It will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at the Kiwanis Activity Center, 16957 E. Kiwanis Drive.
The clubhouse is located south of Fountain Park, between Saguaro and El Lago boulevards.
The typical “Big K” breakfast consists of pancakes, sausage, applesauce and scrambled eggs – cost is $6.
Reduced price kids’ meals will be available along with a la carte items and refreshments such as coffee, milk and orange juice.
All proceeds will benefit the Eliminate Project, part of Kiwanis International’s efforts to eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus from more than 30 countries.
Kiwanis is working with UNICEF to distribute a series of immunizations to mothers, primarily in third world countries, who are susceptible to contracting tetanus.
Maternal neonatal tetanus, when passed on to newborns, often proves fatal. It is an especially painful disease and causes much suffering for babies.
“We had a successful pancake breakfast last year on Super Bowl Sunday, so we wanted to repeat the event again this year,” said club President Al Roselieb.
“We received many positive comments from people who attended.
“We’ll have tables and chairs set up inside the Kiwanis clubhouse, so the weather won’t be a factor.
“Come on out and support a good cause and get a great breakfast at the same time.”
