Open house for downtown vision held in Fountain Hills

Town gets input from over 100 residents

There is a lot of interest in the future for downtown Fountain Hills as more than 100 residents showed up to an open house May 15 to provide input to staff on what they think will improve the downtown experience.

According to the presentation, the town has invested $6.6 million in the Avenue District of downtown since 2014 (10 years). That includes $1.75 million for the linear median park, $2.9 million for paving improvements and striping, $850,000 for the roundabout at La Montana and a value of $289,500 in public art donations on the Avenue.

The town’s voter approved General Plan 2020 call for a “highly integrated mix of uses to provide a vibrant town center,” and “encourage development with an urban form.” Also, to “develop active public space between buildings and along streets and to improve connections from Fountain Park to the heart of the town center area.”
