Hello. I am a sixth grader and I used to like to gaze up at the stars and the night sky at our fountain park. Now when I go out there are pillars very close together with bright lights that are not shielded, so they shine out and ruin my night vision.
I understand some people jog out late each night but it is ridiculous and unnecessary to have so many lights so close together, especially when they are extremely bright and not shielded. We should not be scared of the dark.
In a few minutes your night vision will come. At the least we should cover our lights with a red filter, because looking at a red light is much easier for your eye to recover from than a bright naked white light.

To the citizens of Fountain Hills, when you come home late at night and your front yard is flooded with light, please turn off the lights. As an incentive, remember that other than helping ruin the night sky you are providing a light that robbers can see by.
So I ask again, on behalf of myself and all stargazers in our light-filled town who hate light pollution, turn off the lights.
