New trail in Fountain Hills Preserve nears completion

May open over the holidays

It was just about a year ago, after approval of the plan by the Fountain Hills Town Council, that the Sonoran Conservancy volunteer Trailblazers began work on the Mesquite Hollow Trail, which cuts across the face of the McDowell Mountains.

According to Bill Craig, lead for the Trailblazers, that trail is just about complete and may even be open for people to enjoy over the holidays.

“I sure would like to have it open for the holidays,” Craig said. “It would be nice for (people) to take (their) holiday company for a hike and show off what has been done.”
