New tour added to the River of Time

Visit new exploration experiences in Fountain Hills

Posted

A few spaces remain in the final “Milestone Sculpture Tour” of the season, Saturday, April 25, at 10 a.m.

The tours are the latest Exploration Experience offered at the River of Time Museum & Exploration Center in Fountain Hills.

Joining the popular Fort McDowell Yavapai Tours and Fantastic Foragers McDowell Sonoran Conservancy Tours, this new offering will feature the world-famous art installations located in Centennial Park.

Registration is online at riveroftime.center/calendar_event/milestone-sculpture-art-tour/ or by calling 480-837-2612.

Reservations can also be made in person Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Private tours are available by appointment. The fee is $15 for non-members and $12 for members.

The new tour experience is named in honor of former Mayor Jerry Miles and his wife Jackie Miles who were instrumental in establishing Fountain Hills Public Arts.

At a staggering 150 pieces, Fountain Hills is home to one of the largest art collections in Arizona. Set against the backdrop of the McDowell Mountains, Four Peaks and a towering Fountain, participants will learn about the artist, the production techniques and the story behind some of the most interesting from the collection during a docent-led tour, according to a press release.

The tour kicks off with the short video at the River of Time depicting life around the Lower Verde River from the time of ancient peoples through the present and then continues with an interpreted tour of the sculptures in Centennial Park.

The tour concludes when participants return to the River of Time to view the current art gallery installation and visit the Riverbanks Gift Shop.

Tours run October through April and are offered on the second Wednesday and fourth Saturday of each month at 10 a.m. The new season kicks off Oct. 2.

The River of Time is open Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
