Beginning at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, there will be an open house in the lobby at Town Hall for the public to greet new council members and say thank you and goodbye to those who have been serving.

The session will begin at 5:30 p.m. in council chambers with comments from outgoing council members and members of the public, and the presentation of pins. Those retiring include Mayor Linda Kavanagh, Councilman Henry Leger and Councilman Nick DePorter.

That will be followed by the swearing in of the new council members by Town Magistrate Robert Melton. Comments from the new council will follow before the meeting is gaveled to order by incoming Mayor Ginny Dickey. Others being sworn in to the council include incumbent Alan Magazine for a second term and new council members Mike Scharnow and David Spelich.

There is a light business agenda for the new council with a five-item consent agenda followed by consideration of cancelling meetings in conflict with holiday dates.

The public is invited to attend the activities.
