Nathan D. ‘Nate’ McGuire, 82, of DeKalb, Ill., died Monday, Oct. 30, 2017, at Oak Crest DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb.
Born April 3, 1935 in Carlinville, Ill., the son of Roy and Mary (Russell) McGuire, Nathan married Janice K. Worster on August 8, 1956, in Bradgate, Iowa.
Nate graduated from the University of Missouri in 1955 and was a veteran serving in the United States Army. Nate was employed by the DeKalb Ag as seed corn production manager until his retirement in 1998. He was an avid fisherman, golfer and truly enjoyed his winters in Fountain Hills.
He is survived by his wife, Janice; two daughters, Barbara (Bruce) Barber, Forsyth, Ill., Brenda (Ed) Forster, Janesville, Wis.; six grandchildren, Christopher (Rebecca) Barber, Julie (Eric) Catron, Kimberly (Bryan) James, Brandon (Miranda) Forster, Chad Forster, Jordan Forster; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, 321 Oak Street, DeKalb, with Pastor Jonathan Crail officiating. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Nathan D. McGuire Memorial Fund, addressed to the McGuire Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, Ltd., P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
