Mynars: Republicans in Arizona might want to reconsider their 2024 votes

Posted

It’s bad enough that House Republicans in Washington can’t elect a speaker – as of this writing, Jim Jordan has just gone in flames for the third time even though our Representative, David Schweikert, voted for Jordan all three times – now Republicans in the Arizona Legislature, especially members of the Arizona Freedom Caucus, want to defund ASU. Yeah, the institution that provides education for 50,000 Arizonans. I mean, it’s bad enough not doing anything but doing something destructive, like this defunding, is even worse.

The stated reasons for the defunding were “…ASU is a broken institution, that stands with Hamas terrorists, defends sexualization of young children, tramples free speech (and) institutionalizes racism.” Well, those of you who have a budding young scholar attending ASU (and possibly spending your hard-earned dollars) best get them home before they are radicalized forever. Or, you could contact our Representatives, Joseph Chaplik and Alex Kolodin, who happen to be prominent members of the Arizona Freedom Caucus and request some proof, evidence, substantiation, etc. of these claims. But don’t hold your breath.

Anyway, so Schweikert in Washington (kind of nonactive) and Chaplik and Kolodin here in Arizona (kind of reactive), anyone considering voting Republican in 2024 might be wise to take a deep breath and think about things before filling in the little ovals.
