The River of Time is our local history museum, located beside the Public Library. On Nov. 24, Small Business Saturday, the museum hosted two Mrs. Claus, telling stories and serving hot chocolate and cookies while older visitors enjoyed a free tour of the museum and a huge collection of Santas donated by a former mayor. In the gift shop, everything was 20 percent off and, in the library lobby, the Museum Holiday Mart displayed everything you ever wanted for the holidays for sale.

The museum hosts many programs and activities for adults, but has recently added some programs for families and children. Several former teachers and librarians are volunteers at the museum and present programs and tours for schools and other groups. A recent program called Preschool Saturdays began last June. Preschoolers and their siblings are invited to participate in interactive stories and songs with a desert theme. The next program is Saturday, Dec. 8, at 10:30 a.m. and the theme will be “cowboys.”
