Saturday’s Illinois Day at the Community Center was a resounding success. Even Former Governor of Illinois Jim Edgar and his wife dropped in as did State Representative John Kavanagh and Mayor Linda Kavanagh. Over 500 Chicago dogs were eaten as people enjoyed the good food, the music, the beautiful day on the patio and the kegs of beer!
None of this could have happened without many hands volunteering their time and talents. Special thanks go to Tony Basche’ who chaired the event with his committee of Gerry Colbert and Joe Sommer who worked with Phil’s Filling Station to provide a true Chicago dog with all the trimmings and Lee Robinson who visited merchants and arranged for many of the donations for the $3,000 of raffle prizes.

And of course, many thanks to Debbie Skehen, president of the River of Time board, who helped organize the event and kept everything flowing smoothly.
Assisting them were our very efficient bartenders Leah Bushman and Anna Myhr and the volunteers who did everything else: Lisa Poll, Niobe Borman, Marge Colbert, JoAnne Collins, Teena Borman, Norma Banen, Ellen Cagney, Todd and Pat Isaacson, Jane Wingert, Ellie Kiewel, Carol Frederick, Vicky and Joe Thompson, Nancy McNamara, Rosalyn Poehler, Bob and Susan Titus, Nancy O’Neal, Stan Ziefert, Guido and Marilyn Plavan, Gerard Bisceglia, Bob Vonderhaar, Bill Kulekowskis, Nan Sommer, Don and Fran Crawford, Rosi Marso, John Riley, Joe Huske, Len Modder and Jane Robinson.
A great afternoon made possible by very dedicated and professional helpers!
