The primary property tax vote is over, so let’s get all those “Yes” and “No” campaign signs removed. Although this letter is written before the results are known, I hope everyone can once again be friendly and civil and that we can move forward together.
If it failed, let us all work together to find ways that minimize the impact of the vote and find other new revenue sources and cuts that do minimal damage to our future. If it passed, let us all keep a careful eye on council and staff to ensure that then new revenue actually is spent as promised and that all revenue is spent wisely or actually put into a true “rainy day fund.”

In only three months we will be casting our ballots for mayor and Town Council. Between now and then is our time as voters to get answers from the candidates on the many issues that confront us and to discern their views on leading and governing. As a voter, I ask all the candidates to be available to voters so that we can cast informed votes on Election Day.
As voters, we need to be informed, so I hope there are a number of candidate forums that we can attend. I thank the Chamber and the FHCCA for plans to sponsor both a mayoral candidate forum and a Town Council candidate forum in the coming months. I hope that many attend each.
