Moral panic

Posted

As an educator and a taxpayer, I am thoroughly disgusted with the witch hunt that is being portrayed by the FHUSD.

You are going to tell me that a 25-year veteran teacher decided to one day test fate, and her job, over a playground squabble? Ridiculous!

Why don’t parents talk to the teacher instead of going straight to the principal? Because they want to be right, that’s why. Education is all about customer service these days; the customer is always right. Well, they are not. If you don’t think a child, or a group of children can lie, or fabricate the truth, then you would be sadly mistaken. The infamous McMartin case (‘80s) in California comes to mind.

Now, I have never met a teacher who isn’t human. Yes, it’s true! We are human beings. It is an amazing fact that seems to get lost among parents who demand perfection up until you get to their own front doors. It’s all right for parents to yell and scream at their kids. Yet, when a few words slip out of a teacher’s mouth -- Oh! The injustice!

This is nothing but “moral panic” by those who want to judge, rather than be judged.

Let me remind people that the FHUSD is one of the worst paying districts in the county. Ms. Aister has worked through pay freezes, over-crowded classrooms, and incompetent administrators, and yet, she still loves to teach kids. That’s not human, that’s super-human!
