Michael J. Casey, 58, of Gravois Mills, Mo., formerly of Pontiac, Ill. passed away Monday, Nov. 14, 2016 at 3:32 p.m. at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice House in Peoria, Ill.

A Celebration of Life service was held Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, Ill.

Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.

Mike was born Nov. 30, 1957 in Pontiac, Ill. and raised by his step-father, Jim Trainor and his mother, Barbara (Harris) Trainor. He married Sarah Sloan on Nov. 2, 2007. She survives in Gravois Mills, Mo.

Also surviving are his sons, Chad (Jenni) Casey of Gibson City, Ill. and Christopher Casey of Fountain Hills; step-children, Tiffany Murphy of Lake Ozark, Mo., Jake Kikendall of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Bobby Marquis of Lake Ozark, Mo.; brother, Don (Dawn) Casey of Tulsa Okla.; sisters, Cathi (Loren) Folkerts of Flanagan, Ill. and Anne Casey of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla.; grandchildren, Colton Michael Casey and Lillian Luka Casey, both of Gibson City, Ill.; step-grandchildren, Tanner Kikendall, Taylor Fallis, Tyler Fallis; one nephew, four nieces, and his friend for life, Kevin Murphy of Pontiac, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Casey.

Mike was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School Class of 1975 and graduated from Parkland College in 1977 with a Criminal Justice Degree.

Mike retired as Sergeant Detective for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Police where he worked from 1978 to 1998 and retired as Inspector for the United States Department of Homeland Security in Phoenix, Ariz. where he worked from 2002 to 2012.

In 1987, Mike was the Charter President of the Fraternal Order of Police for the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office. In 1997, Mike received the Illinois Undercover Officer of the Year Award and in 2006 he received the Leadership Award from the United States Department of Homeland Security.

Mike was a member of the Sons of American Legion, where he was past commander, member of the American Legion Riders and also a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pontiac, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made Livingston County Sheriff’s Police Chapter of the Illinois Fraternal Order of Police.
