Merritt Philip Miller, 86, of Fountain Hills, Arizona, passed away on March 21, 2025, after a relatively short battle with liver cancer. Merritt was born on October 17, 1938, in New York City, New York and grew up in nearby Jersey City. Merritt was a proud Army veteran of the VietNam War and served in various leadership capacities in VFW Posts in New Jersey and, later, in Fountain Hills Post 7507. While working as an accountant in New York City, Merritt met Joan Viscide of Irvington, New Jersey, down the shore in Belmar in 1967 and they married three years later. Together they raised two children, Diane Marie Miller and Daniel Hal Miller in Maplewood, New Jersey. Joan and Merritt worked together for many years in the family IT recruiting business. They left cold winters behind and moved to Arizona in 1996 to be near their daughter and granddaughter, Erica Spurlock Robertson. Merritt also appreciated the ability to play golf year-round. He was the proud grandfather of Anthony and Audrey Miller who live in Austin, Texas, and great grandfather of Clive and Miller Robertson of Phoenix. Merritt had many friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A private memorial will be held for Merritt and Joan, who predeceased him by two weeks.
