A Tonto Verde couple returned home after a week’s vacation on July 17, to find their residence on Mesquite Circle had been burglarized.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputy’s report the burglar apparently removed a screen and entered through a front bedroom window.

The residents reported a computer and jewelry with a total value of about $13,000 were taken.

This is just the latest report in a series of several burglaries that have occurred in Rio Verde since late May.

Sheriff’s Capt. Joe Rodriquez, commander for the Sheriff’s District 7 based in Fountain Hills, said he has increased patrols in the Verde Communities both day and night.

Rodriquez said one thing that has stood about regarding the Rio Verde burglaries is the fact that television sets appear to be a targeted item.

He said his detective sergeant is reviewing the reports by deputies in more detail looking for additional common factors.
