A Scottsdale man faces aggravated assault charges after a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy was struck by a car while he was on traffic control duty for a construction project at Fountain Hills and Kingstree boulevards Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The deputy was treated at a Scottsdale hospital for a leg injury and released, but not before he followed and stopped the suspect vehicle a short distance away.
According to the Sheriff's Office the driver was northbound on Fountain Hills Boulevard and refused the deputy's order to stop and made a right hand turn onto Kingstree against the instructions of the deputy.

A Scottsdale man faces aggravated assault charges after a Maricopa County Sheriff's deputy was struck by a car while he was on traffic control duty for a construction project at Fountain Hills and Kingstree boulevards Tuesday, Nov. 5.
The deputy was treated at a Scottsdale hospital for a leg injury and released, but not before he followed and stopped the suspect vehicle a short distance away.
According to the Sheriff's Office the driver was northbound on Fountain Hills Boulevard and refused the deputy's order to stop and made a right hand turn onto Kingstree against the instructions of the deputy.
The vehicle struck the deputy as the turn was made. The driver, who was reportedly unfamiliar with the area, was following vehicle navigation instructions at the time of the accident.
The driver, whose wife was a passenger in his vehicle, faces charges of aggravated assault on a peace officer, hit and run with physical injury and disobeying an officer during traffic control.
