The Town Council is considering a new contract with the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) when it meets in regular session on Tuesday, Oct. 17.
The town’s current agreement was adopted in 2012 as a five-year contract with an option for an additional five one-year renewals. The latest renewal extended the agreement through Dec. 31, 2023.
The proposed contract on the table for council consideration extends MCSO law enforcement services for an initial term through June 30, 2026, at approximately $6 million per year. MCSO is to provide the town with information on proposed costs for the next fiscal year each year in February to allow for budget planning for the fiscal year that would begin the following July.
