Mayor Friedel’s behavior at Fountain Hills council meeting is concerning

Posted

At the June 3 Town Council meeting, Mayor Friedel allowed a councilmember extra time to attack another councilmember and then would not allow the attacked councilmember to respond.

Later, the mayor read a statement about “tablegate.” In explaining why the table had been removed, he admitted that he has an axe to grind with the paper. It sounded to me like he turned against this local business because it doesn't give preferential treatment to conservative viewpoints.

For all his talk about supporting this town and local businesses, he doesn't seem to see how his partisan views and preferential treatments are harming the town. He said that he realizes how important the Times is to the people in this town, but then why does he disparage and punish it? A town without a local paper is just sad!
