Martin Wrzesien, 83, of Fountain Hills went to be with his Lord and Savior on Aug. 14, 2017. He was born on June 9, 1934, in Hegewisch, Ill. to

Marcin Wrzesien and Aniela (nee Madaj) Wrzesien.

Martin was a Korean War Army Veteran, a true patriot and member of the American Legion.

He married the love of his life, Janet Sikora, on May 5, 1955, who preceded him in death (August 2015). Martin worked as an operating engineer, heavy equipment operator out of Local 150 in Chicago, Ill. before moving to Arizona. In Arizona he worked for Red River Contracting before retiring.

He was active in church ministry always ready to lend a helping hand wherever needed. He served as a church greeter for several years.

Martin took pleasure in helping people and his love of Jesus could be seen in his smile.

Martin – or, as his friends called him, “Marty’’ – was fond of working on his Jeep, trips to the local hardware store, watching John Wayne movies, listening to Elvis Presley and welding crosses for both family and friends.

He treasured spending weekends with his family, laughing, eating Polish food and drinking his coffee.

Martin was the loving father of three daughters;

Lee Ann (Mark Ferguson), Debra (Robert Legge) and Maria (Nick Nejadeh); eight grandchildren, Melissa (JP Schrage), Robin (Dennis Bratcher JR), Matthew (Amanda) Legge, Lindsay (Adam Zingg), Moriah Nejadeh, Addison (Marlee) Nejadeh, Bennett (Ivy), Nejadeh, Caleb Nejadeh and eight great-grandchildren.

Other close family members include his nephew, Frank September, and the September family. Psalm 91:14.

A memorial Service will be held at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary on Monday, Aug. 21 at 9 a.m. followed by burial services at National Memorial Cemetery at 11 a.m.
