If you’ve ever had a leaky roof, you learn quickly that putting off repairs is going to cost a lot more money than getting a roofer in to immediately fix the problem.
This applies to our streets as well, and I am delighted that the Town Council now has a budget in place that allocates annual monies for preventive maintenance of our infrastructure.
But in the meantime, we have a major problem with Saguaro – this main thoroughfare in Fountain Hills is as old as the town and desperately in need of replacement. Temporary Band-Aids are expensive and short lived. Not taking action at this time will cost all of us far more than doing something now.

The plan unanimously approved by the Town Council as a bond issue on the upcoming ballot addresses only Saguaro Boulevard. There are no funds allocated for other streets or possible future projects. The bond is set up to fully amortize in five years. For more information, please check out www.citizens4saguaro.com.
In a couple weeks we will be receiving our mail-in ballots. I will vote “yes” and I hope you will too. Let’s get this major street rebuilt!
