Low road

This is in response to the letter of Dean Howard. It is such a shame that the Yates camp has taken the low road ever since last year, when Ginny Dickey ran for mayor. The insults continued outside of the election season. It became so ugly that the editor of The Fountain Hills Times announced he would no longer publish any letters attacking private citizens of the community.

The “low road” that Mr. Howard refers to is the contents of the letters to the editor written about Mr. Yates, which are true facts. I believe he has used his position on the council to advance his own agenda and he supported the feasibility study of this crazy idea to build a beach in Fountain Hills, using $38,000 of our tax money!

I urge everyone to do what Rex Tillerson said in his farewell speech to his State Department colleagues: “This is an ugly town, so I am asking you to do one kind thing or say one kind thing every day to someone.” I ask Mr. Yates to be honest. And for Ginny Dickey: You are the best candidate for mayor of Fountain Hills. Hopefully, we will not follow the ugliness of our leaders but adopt a kinder and gentler approach to talk and write to and about each other.
