With a lot of people complaining about the $36 fee recently, I’m sure this will make those shortsighted folks really pop a cork.

Our schools are having a horrible time getting and keeping quality teachers for our most precious resource, our children. This is true statewide.

We bought our home here in 2007 and love Fountain Hills. When we bought our home, my wife purchased it without me, as I was still working full-time. When she finally settled on the right house in Sunridge Canyon, I asked her what the taxes were. When she told me what they were I asked “a month?” She said no, that’s for a year.

Our home in Omaha was valued almost $200,000 less and the taxes were over four times what we pay here. Our current home in Kansas City is worth about the same as the one here and we pay three times as much.

I know for politicians mentioning raising taxes is viewed as suicide, but this is something of critical importance. The lowest hanging fruit to help our kids and teachers with a great education process is right in front of us.
