A simulation of reentry to society out of prison will be featured at the next Liberal Ladies meeting.
The group will meet today, Wednesday, Feb. 6, at the Community Center from 3 to 5 p.m.
“What’s It Really Like to Get out of Prison? A Reentry Simulation” is an interactive event. Participants will have the opportunity to experience the challenges inmates face when they are released from prison.
Sue Ellen Allen, who was an inmate in Maricopa County, will lead the session. Much of her work is based on personal experiences within the justice system and her discoveries about badly-needed reforms.
Each attendee will be given the identity of a former prisoner, pertinent information and time to complete each assignment. A questionnaire will be circulated to get feedback about the experience.
To conduct the simulation, 20 volunteers are needed. Those volunteers should be at the meeting by 2:45 p.m. for training. The simulation will begin at 3:30 p.m.
