Let’s tone down the political rhetoric in Fountain Hills

Political rhetoric has been heating up in Fountain Hills.
There has been nonstop anger and rage coming from those smarting over the outcome of the last town elections, specifically aimed at those elected to the council and as mayor. It's prolific, from commentary in the letters to the editor to constant hate and outrage online targeted at those who were voted to serve us.
Public servants have been sued, slandered, their character assassinated and even worse. This no longer is harmless pranks, it's been reported to the sheriff's office, who is not taking these actions lightly.
Political words can spur others into believing it's open season on public officials, so we should take personal responsibility to tone down the rhetoric. Remind fellow citizens there are options to expressing concerns. Public officials are always open to meeting with citizens, call them. If you want change, find a candidate you can support and work to elect that person.
Primary town elections will be held in August 2026, a year away. Three council seats and the mayor's position will be up for your vote. Today, stop the harsh talk, the personal attacks and, especially online, remind others you do not tolerate hate speech of any kind.
