OPINION – The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes all the hustle and bustle of shopping, cooking and preparing for family gatherings. Along with that comes the wish for togetherness and sharing of love, remembrance and renewal which we may also anticipate.
Each year I look forward to the lights and decorations along the Avenue and at the Community Center. These are lovely additions to our town and should make us all proud as they delight our senses and warm our hearts.
However, when politics are inserted, it is just one more reminder of our divided society. Unlike another letter writer I, and many others, would be personally greatly offended by inserting a photo of our current president into our holiday decorations. Not only does he not demonstrate any love or respect for his fellow human beings, but it would be especially hurtful to have his photo atop a tree that is honoring our service men and women.
