Leadership

For 35 years, the federal government turned a blind eye to the looming crisis of illegal aliens streaming across the Arizona border.

That was until one of a few good men like John Kavanagh, Arizona House of Representatives, stood up for the people, not the establishment. Representative Kavanagh brought the issue to life with SB 1070, so much so, the rest of the country sat up and took notice. Thereafter, many states realized they could come to grips by recognizing how the same issue in fact threatened their states’ sovereignty.

John Kavanagh’s concern is the law and the people. He does not chase whatever seems popular at the moment but how the history of Arizona will read 100 from now. He rose through the ranks, from a New York Port Authority police officer to a Ph.D. in criminal justice. John Kavanagh’s background skills, brainpower and devotion to his country and the people of Arizona are impeccable.

Enter Jeff Schwartz, a real estate developer without similar credentials. Even a local newspaper said Schwartz was lean on the issues. He was so lean, in fact, his campaign manager fed him text messages to questions in a recent debate in Fountain Hills.

As the proverbial man in an empty suit, who knows which way Schwartz will swing for the lobbyists and elitists who come calling? It’s never too late to grow a spine, Mr. Schwartz!

Whether it is Obamacare or retaining fiscal solvency of the state of Arizona, we need someone with hands-on experience, brainpower and leadership skills. That person is John Kavanagh.

Vote for him in the primary Aug. 26 election to be the Republican choice for Arizona State Senate. Indeed, integrity does matter, Mr. Schwartz, and character is always known.
