Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old Fountain Hills man for assault on a male juvenile, 17, in the 17000 block of Calle Del Oro on Tuesday, April 9.

The victim of the alleged assault was helping a friend move and was sitting in a pick-up with furniture loaded when the suspect approached and accused him of stealing his furniture.

Sheriff’s deputies arrested an 18-year-old Fountain Hills man for assault on a male juvenile, 17, in the 17000 block of Calle Del Oro on Tuesday, April 9.

The victim of the alleged assault was helping a friend move and was sitting in a pick-up with furniture loaded when the suspect approached and accused him of stealing his furniture.

The suspect reportedly pulled furniture from the truck and threw it onto the lawn. The victim got out of the truck to talk with the man when the fight began.

Several witnesses reported the suspect had instigated and threw the first punch.

The suspect was the former boyfriend of the woman the victim was helping to move. She had a restraining order against the suspect. She had already left the scene when the fight occurred.

Deputies told the suspect that his claim to the furniture was a civil matter but arrested him for the assault on the other male.

*On Monday, April 1, deputies received a report that someone had removed two 12.5-ton air conditioning units from the roof of a commercial property in the Four Peaks Plaza at Shea and Saguaro boulevards. The unit was vacant and the theft occurred sometime during the past year. The AC units are valued at $24,000 total.

*On Tuesday, March 19, a Fountain Hills man reported someone had used his credit card information in New York, Pennsylvania and Nevada, charging more than $1,600.

*On Sunday, April 7, a Chandler woman was arrested for DUI following a traffic stop at Palisades Boulevard and La Montana Drive. A deputy made the stop after he observed the woman fail to stop for the stop sign at the intersection.

*On Monday, April 8, a deputy assigned to Fountain Hills arrested a Nevada man in Scottsdale for an outstanding warrant. At the time of his arrest on the Scottsdale warrant the man was found to be in possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

*On Monday, April 8, a Fountain Hills woman reported a violation of an order of protection when her ex-boyfriend made contact with her electronically.

*On Friday, March 29, a resident of the 16000 block of Saguaro Blvd. reported someone had struck his mailbox and left the scene. A neighbor said she saw a large pick-up with a trailer and backhoe make a U-turn in front of the house, but did not see it hit the mailbox.

*On Thursday, April 4, deputies investigated a two-vehicle collision on Palisades Boulevard at Westby Drive. A vehicle traveling eastbound on Palisades collided with a vehicle crossing at Westby.

*On Tuesday, April 9, a resident of the 16000 block of Westby Drive reported someone stole his 1998 Ford pick-up. A neighbor reported seeing two people drive off in the vehicle, but thought it was the owner, and he was unable to identify the suspects.

*On Friday, March 29, a Fountain Hills man reported someone stole a set of keys and a gym membership card.

*On Sunday, April 7, a Fountain Hills man reported someone entered his open garage in the 14000 block of Windyhill Drive and removed property valued at between $1,200 and $1,500 from his vehicle.

*On Monday, April 8, a woman reported someone smashed the window of her rental car parked at Fountain Park and removed a purse including a bank debit card.

*On Monday, April 8, a resident of Love Court reported a physical altercation taking place on their cul-de-sac. No one was present when deputies arrived. The witness reported six to eight juveniles were involved in the incident. Deputies found no other witnesses but found evidence of the fight.

*On Saturday, April 13, a motorcyclist participating in a “Bike Week” ride was injured when he was forced to lay down his motorcycle on Shea Boulevard at Eagle Mountain Parkway. A motorist had apparently pulled into the intersection with the light in his favor and into the procession of motorcycles causing the accident. Law enforcement personnel reported they were short people to monitor the intersection for the event.
