Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives in Fountain Hills are investigating a report by a Fountain Hills woman that $100,000 in jewelry had been stolen from her and another $15,000 in credit card debt had been charged to her.
The woman reported to deputies on Tuesday, July 30, that she believes her daughter removed the jewelry from a safe in her home over the past year since the death of her husband.
The woman said since her husband’s death she has not been able to wear any of the jewelry, which he had bought for her over the years. She recently went to the safe to get some of the jewelry to wear and discovered much of it missing.

Maricopa County Sheriff’s detectives in Fountain Hills are investigating a report by a Fountain Hills woman that $100,000 in jewelry had been stolen from her and another $15,000 in credit card debt had been charged to her.
The woman reported to deputies on Tuesday, July 30, that she believes her daughter removed the jewelry from a safe in her home over the past year since the death of her husband.
The woman said since her husband’s death she has not been able to wear any of the jewelry, which he had bought for her over the years. She recently went to the safe to get some of the jewelry to wear and discovered much of it missing.
The woman said she had given her daughter some legal authority for her affairs since her husband’s death including a credit card account for incidentals. That account now had a debt of $15,000.
The woman stated she believes the daughter and her boyfriend have taken advantage of her situation.
*On Wednesday, July 24, a man was stopped in Fountain Hills for speeding and the driver was also cited for providing false information to an officer.
*On Monday, July 29, a man was arrested after a traffic stop for insurance cancellation. He was also cited for driving with a suspended license, possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant.
*On Tuesday, July 23, a Fountain Hills woman reported her cell phone had been stolen on or about July 10.
*On Sunday, July 28, a deputy picked up a Phoenix woman walking along Gunsight Drive in Fountain Hills with what appeared to be all of her possessions. During the course of the investigation deputies found she was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The case has been submitted to the town prosecutor for possible charges.
*On Monday, July 29, deputies received a report from a woman working as a real estate watcher in Fountain Hills. She reported appliances valued at $1,500 missing from a residence in the 14000 block of Mayflower Drive.
*On Tuesday, July 2, a Fountain Hills woman, age 81, obtained an order of protection against her daughter who was living with her. The woman said they argue about the daughter’s “hoarding” and she has become afraid.
*On Tuesday, July 23, a Tolleson man was arrested in Fountain Hills for operating a vehicle without a required ignition interlock device. He was also cited for no proof of insurance.
*On Sunday, July 21, a Fountain Hills woman reported that her grandsons, ages 20 and 17, had been fighting at her residence in the 16000 block of Deuce Court. The argument began as “trash talk” on the basketball court and escalated to a physical altercation at the grandmother’s house where one of the brothers was living.
*On Wednesday, July 31, a deputy stopped a man on a bicycle on Saguaro Boulevard. It was nearly midnight and there was no light on the bicycle. The man was arrested when it was found there were two outstanding warrants for his arrest. One charge was possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, and the second warrant was for failing to appear in court on those charges.
*On Tuesday, July 23, deputies responded to a report of a man down near Galatea and Ibsen drives. They found a male, age 17, who said he was trying to find a friend’s house. The male had been drinking and was cited for underage possession and consumption of alcohol and released to his father.
*On Saturday, July 27, a woman reported a burglary at her residence in the 31000 block of 169th place in Maricopa County. She said jewelry valued at between $5,000 and $6,000 was taken. It appeared someone had pried open a door.
*On Friday, Aug. 2, a man reported that someone had removed a bucket of change from the trunk of his car parked in the 16000 block of Sterling Way. He estimated that about $750 was in the bucket.
*On Friday, Aug. 2, deputies received a report that three male subjects in their early 20s had stolen bundles of firewood from an outside display at a convenience store at Palisades and Fountain Hills boulevards.
*On Saturday, Aug. 3, deputies received a report that a Phoenix woman had attempted to purchase gift cards valued at about $900 from the Bashas’ store in Fountain Hills. Management was suspicious of the purchase and was making some inquiries of the woman when she abruptly left the store. Deputies are investigating to see if the situation involved criminal activity.
*On Sunday, Aug. 4, deputies were called to a residence in the 16000 block of Almont Drive for a reported assault. A woman reported her boyfriend had struck her with a closed fist and pushed her down. He also broke her glasses. They were arguing about his mother when the fight escalated. The suspect had left the scene.
