Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a single motorcycle accident April 2 involving a 35-year-old Avondale man on Palisades Boulevard near Sunset Vista Drive.

The cyclist told police that he lost control while changing lanes as he was traveling north. The motorcycle struck the curb and he was ejected, landing 20 feet down a ravine. He was wearing a helmet and upper body protection.

He suffered left leg injuries and was transported to HonorHealth Osborn. In a later interview, he told deputies that he did not have, and never has had, a license to operate the motorcycle. A citation is pending.

The cyclist told police that he lost control while changing lanes as he was traveling north. The motorcycle struck the curb and he was ejected, landing 20 feet down a ravine. He was wearing a helmet and upper body protection.

*Two 16-year-old girls, one from Scottsdale and the other Fountain Hills, were cited April 11 for drug violations, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia in a drug-free zone on the Fountain Hills High School campus.

The two admitted to hiding a green leafy substance that later tested to be marijuana in a tree fort on school grounds.

*Deputies were called April 11 to Fountain View Village to investigate an unresponsive 87-year-old woman who was found lying on the floor next to her bed. She had been under a physician’s care; death is believed to be natural causes.

*On April 7, deputies issued a citation to a local man after an earlier incident of assault domestic violence. He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail.

*A woman reported to police April 2 that her vehicle parked on N. Falcone Drive was struck by a hit and run motorist.

*On April 9, deputies stopped a 56-year-old Mesa resident on Shea Boulevard near Fountain Hills Boulevard for speeding. Deputies clocked the driver at 77 miles per hour in a 50 mph zone. The motorist has a May 23 court date for criminal speeding.

*On April 9, an assisted living facility on Fountain Hills Boulevard called deputies to investigate the death of an 87-year-old female resident. Police attributed the death to apparent natural causes.

*On April 5, an incident of criminal littering on E. Lomas Verdes Drive was reported. The incident occurred sometime between April 5 and 6. The complaint reported that at least 10 times over the last six months someone has dumped glass jars, plastic containers, papers and cans of motor oil on the property.

*On April 4, deputies received a report of credit card fraud at the Lexington Hotel and Suites. A credit card stolen from a Las Vegas woman was used for services.

*A Rio Verde couple notified deputies that they received a letter April 9 from the Internal Revenue Service alerting them to an unknown person attempting to obtain their tax return transcripts and Social Security numbers without their permission.

*Sometime between April 8 and 11, an unknown suspect removed the American flag outside the Chamber of Commerce office building on Palisades Boulevard.

*Deputies responded to a suicide report April 3 to N. Vista Del Oro, Fort McDowell. They found a 68-year-old man lying in a shower with a single gunshot wound to the head. The case is pending a ruling from the medical examiner’s office.
