Law enforcement report

Maricopa County sheriff’s deputies received a report May 10 from a 68-year-old Alamosa Ave resident who said he was scammed out of $4,500 from a Facebook contact.

The victim said he was contacted by a suspect who identified himself as a relative. The individual told the victim that he would receive a $150,000 federal grant after he wired $1,500 to a “woman in Alabama.”

He later was told to send another $3,000 to the same party. He realized that it might be a hoax when he received a third request for an additional $4,000 for “airline tax.”
