Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in the 15000 block of Cactus Drive at about 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, after a vehicle crashed through the garage of a home and then left the scene.
The home is unoccupied and the vehicle apparently went straight through a curve in the street and struck the garage. Deputies report the vehicle went through the garage and struck the wall to the interior of the home.
Deputies were unable to locate a vehicle in the neighborhood but received a phone call from a man who told them he might have been involved in an accident.
Deputies went to the man’s home in the neighborhood to talk with the man who they described as cooperative. The man told deputies he had been drinking and does not remember what happened. He said he blacked out and woke up at home. He called the Sheriff’s Office when he discovered extensive damage to his vehicle.
Deputies inspected the vehicle and discovered parts of the garage door still attached to the vehicle. However, since there were no witnesses and the man never admitted he was driving the car and they could not confirm that he was driving, no charges are pending.
