Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident that occurred in the 17000 block of Rockwood Drive on Wednesday, March 22.
The woman told deputies she removed the clip from the weapon and did not think there was a round still in the chamber when she intentionally pulled the trigger.

A Fountain Hills woman could face charges following an incident in which she apparently accidently discharged a handgun inside her residence. The bullet exited the building and struck a neighboring residence.
Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating the incident that occurred in the 17000 block of Rockwood Drive on Wednesday, March 22.
The woman told deputies she removed the clip from the weapon and did not think there was a round still in the chamber when she intentionally pulled the trigger.
The bullet went through the wall at her house before going through the garage door and went into a wall of the other residence.
The Sheriff’s Office has passed the information on the Maricopa County Attorney and the woman could face charges for unlawful discharge of a weapon (within the town limits); disorderly conduct with a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm.
*On Monday, March 20, management at the CopperWynd Resort reported that someone had used a stolen credit card to pay for a stay at the hotel. The card belonged to a Gilbert man. The report was forwarded to Sheriff’s District detectives for follow up.
*On Tuesday, March 21, a resident of the 10000 block of Pinto Drive reported someone removed a pair of sunglasses and $120 in cash from a vehicle parked at the residence.
*On Thursday, March 16, a Fountain Hills resident reported an unknown person used their identification to file a fraudulent income tax return.
*On Thursday, March 9, personnel at a Fountain Hills bank branch reported suspicious activity by two male subjects on three separate occasions. It is believed they might have been casing the bank.
*On Friday, March 17, a Fountain Hills resident reported they were told by the IRS that someone had used their identity to file a fraudulent income tax return.
*On Wednesday, March 22, a Fountain Hills woman reported someone broke into her vehicle parked in the 15000 block of Ivory Drive and took $2,000 in cash.
*On Tuesday, March 21, a resident of the 16000 block of Stancrest Drive reported their mailbox had been damaged.
*On Monday, March 20, a resident of the 15000 block of Yucca Drive reported a handgun valued at $670 missing from his vehicle.
*On Thursday, March 23, deputies stopped a Glendale man for speeding on Palisades Boulevard and found he had no driver license.
*On Thursday, March 23, deputies stopped a Phoenix man for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard and found he was driving with a suspended license.
*On Saturday, March 25, a Fountain Hills woman reported her boyfriend from Phoenix was at her home and was acting erratically and would not leave when asked. Deputies arrived at the home in the 17000 block of La Pasada and the man still refused to leave when told he was trespassing. He resisted arrest and was subdued with a Taser. He faces possible charges for trespassing, resisting arrest and criminal damage to a patrol vehicle. A deputy sustained minor injuries during the incident.
*On Sunday, March 26, a resident of an apartment complex in the 16000 block of El Lago Boulevard reported their tires had been slashed. Deputies responded and found there were eight victims with similar criminal damage to their vehicles.
*On Monday, March 27, a fountain Hills woman reported the theft of money from her purse at her residence in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains.
*On Friday, March 24, a resident of the 16000 block of Lone Mountain Road in Maricopa County reported a neighbor had threatened her with a handgun and used abusive language.
*On Tuesday, March 21, a Fountain Hills man reported someone unknown used his identification and Social Security number to establish cable television and internet service at a Glendale, Ariz. address.
*On Saturday, March 25, a Fountain Hills man reported someone stole his wallet while he was at a convenience store.
*On Monday, March 27, deputies received a report of criminal damage at an auto service business in the 16000 block of Parkview Ave. There was damage to a garage door and a window in the door.
*On Sunday, March 26, a Fountain Hills resident reported someone stole a diamond ring valued at $1,500 from a residence in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains.
*On Tuesday, March 28, a Fountain Hills man reported that between Nov. 20, 2016 and Jan. 20, 2017 someone used his credit card to purchase seven cell phones and attempted to purchase a television monitor. The victim had no monetary loss.
*On Tuesday, March 28, deputies were called to the 17000 block of Via Del Oro for a reported assault. A man had gone to pick up his granddaughter at her father’s house when the two men got into an argument and the grandfather was pushed to the ground and sustained minor injuries. Deputies did not immediately locate the suspect but he faces potential charges for domestic violence assault causing injury and disorderly conduct.
*On Friday, March 24, a resident of the 165000 block of Eagle Rock Drive reported a laptop valued at $1,260 stolen from their residence.
*On Wednesday, March 29, deputies received a report that three suspects took a shopping cart filled with merchandise from the Fountain Hills Bashas’ store without paying. The value of the merchandise is unknown.
