Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Rio Verde fire department Tuesday, Sept. 26, at a barn fire on Windstone Trail, Scottsdale.

The structure was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. Two horses and a tractor were removed. The horses were not harmed. Estimated damage is $65,000. Police said there appeared to be no criminal activity.

*On Monday, Sept. 25, a 25-year-old man was arrested on criminal damage charges for causing $2,350 damage to the interior of a Richwood house where he lived with his family. He also was charged with domestic violence and disorderly conduct. A complainant reported a verbal altercation had turned physical. The man was transported to the 4th Avenue Jail.

*On Monday, Sept. 25, a 25-year-old man was arrested on criminal damage charges for causing $2,350 damage to the interior of a Richwood house where he lived with his family. *On Wednesday, Sept. 20, deputies cited a 16-year-old driver with failure to stop at a red light at the corner of Avenue of the Fountains and Palisades Boulevard shortly after 2 p.m.

His vehicle collided with a second as that driver attempted to turn left onto the Avenue of the Fountains. Both vehicles sustained moderate damage.

*On Thursday, Sept. 21, deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident at Sun Ridge Drive and San Andreas Drive. The motorist traveling westbound on San Andreas told police that his brakes failed as he descended the hill, causing him not to stop at a traffic sign and colide with a northbound vehicle on Sun Ridge Drive.

Minor damage was reported to both vehicles. Deputies gave citations to both motorists: the first one for not producing any proof of insurance and the second for not wearing a seat belt.

*On Wednesday, Sept. 20, a female driver said she was heading southwest on Palisades Boulevard when a car pulled in front of her as she approached the El Lago intersection. When she applied the brakes, she said the car swerved, skidded, turned around and hit the curb. She said the other vehicle never stopped.

*On Friday, Sept. 15, a 68-year-old Fountain Hills man was stopped at Shea Boulevard and 134th St., and cited for driving with a suspended license for a violation that occurred at Palisades and Shea Blvds.

*A 26-year-old Fort McDowell resident was transported to the 4th Avenue Jail on Thursday, Sept. 21, on a charge of driving on a revoked license and possession/use of drug paraphernalia. Deputies stopped the man on Shea Boulevard and the Beeline Highway.

*On Thursday, Sept. 21, a 17-year-old high school student reported to deputies that she believed someone damaged her vehicle while it was parked at the high school. She said the vehicle would not start. An unknown brown liquid had been poured into the gas tank.

*On Thursday, Sept. 21, deputies responded to a report about a domestic abuse incident in the 14000 block of Greenhurst Avenue. The wife said her husband took away her cell phone when she tried to call for assistance when the verbal fight became physical. He was booked at the 4th Avenue Jail on a charge of criminal damage or defacing property of another person.

*Occupants of a home in the 1500 block of Del Ray Drive reported an unknown intruder attempted to enter the residence on Saturday, Sept. 23.

*Entry to carport storage units was gained at two different residences on Sunday, Oct. 24. One incident was reported in the 14000 block of Teakwood Lane. A home burglary alarm system was activated at about 1 a. m. the same date in the 1400 block of Boxwood Lane. Occupants said nothing was taken at either location.

*On Monday, Sept. 25, a 41-year-old was arrested for criminal damage to his wife’s vehicle after an argument. He was booked into the 4th Avenue Jail.

*The owner of a station wagon parked in the 1600 block of Gunsight Drive reported a window was smashed on Monday, Sept. 25, and two Maxpedition bags taken.

*A 58-year-old Yuma woman reported the theft of her wallet from her car when it was parked in the parking lot of a fast food restaurant off Shea Boulevard on Tuesday, Sept. 26. The wallet was later found and turned over to police. Except for a missing $10 bill, the contents were intact.
