Changes coming

Beginning with the June 6 edition the law enforcement report in The Times will have a different look, as the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is changing the way it is releasing information related to criminal activity in Fountain Hills.

MCSO has informed The Times that it will no longer allow a reporter to review reports at the district office. Staff has been referred to a website that will provide a snapshot of activity that has occurred within the town, providing time, location and type of offense.

Further details on incidents will need to come from the MCSO public information office.

At this point Times staff is uncertain how this will impact the information the paper will receive from the Sheriff’s Office.

An email from the Sheriff’s Office states that MCSO wants to be more consistent in how it releases information to the media countywide.

The Times thanks its readers for their patience as staff members begin working within the new system.
