With all those new lights in Fountain Park it won’t be long until airplanes coming into Sky Harbor from the East mistake our park for a landing strip.
With all that illumination after dark the park certainly looks more like an airport than a park. I use to be able to see the Milky Way as I strolled through the park after dark. Now I’ll be able to see landing gear lowering.

Maybe I better take orange traffic directing lights with me to wave off the incoming aircraft. Has the town put an emergency water response team in place for the planes that mistake our sidewalks for runways and wind up in the lake?
Then again, the lights themselves may stop the planes dead in the tracks; they certainly look like the crash barriers put in front of buildings to keep terrorists from driving into them. Perhaps the new air traffic will be entertaining, but I’d rather see the stars.
