We first arrived in Fountain Hills in 1984 and fell in love with the peace and quiet, and decided this was where we wanted to retire. Several years later we returned and purchased a house on the golf course with magnificent views where we have lived happily enjoying a bit of paradise.
Now, I discover there is a campaign to disrupt our community’s harmony with a proposed public swimming pool. The logic being: More people, more sales.
More people, more problems! The reason buyers purchase property in a certain community is because of high standards and good property values. Let’s not lower them by constructing an attractive nuisance.

Customers don’t buy houses because they had a nice dip in an unhealthy public pool. The insurance liability rates will be astronomical. One drowning in that pool and we will be paying millions/ Are they going to float another bond to pay for this madness? No more taxes!
What makes Fountain Hills an enviable area is precisely its unique character. And while it is enjoyable to have an occasional parade or public event, we don’t need constant congestion, parking problems, noise, more crime, and higher taxes.
We want to keep our town just as it is.
Changing Fountain Hills into a three-ring circus of Wet and Wild is not going to improve sales of any kind. Businesses which have filed bankruptcy here simply did not perform a feasibility study. Maybe we don’t need dozens of restaurants. This is a sleepy bedroom community, not a public playground.
If people want excitement let them go to Cave Creek. We will not let the marketing geniuses spend six million dollars of taxpayer money for a pool party which will only benefit contractors. No lagoon. No more taxes!
