Kerfuffle

It is a bit amusing to follow the recent kerfuffle between the supporters of Sheriff Joe Arpaio and Councilperson Ginny Dickey.

She took great umbrage and indignation at the boisterous and boorish behavior by the Joe people, which was unhelpful and I certainly don’t condone.

So Ms. Dickey took to the press with a long op-ed decrying the rudeness, expressing her hurt feelings, and stating that she is now with the ill-advised “recall Sheriff Joe” movement.

But wait!

Isn’t this G. Dickey, Democrat Party stalwart, delegate to the national convention, etc.? Is she implying support for her party’s embrace of the less-than-elegant activities of the “Occupy” rabble or the race-baiting anti-Tea Party group?

Sheriff Joe’s grandstanding is well known and his office apparatus is not beyond reproach and warrants close scrutiny, but he sometimes seems one of few officials unapologetically doing what he was elected to do.

As an independent voter I don’t have a dog in this fight. But love the irony and the faint whiff of hypocrisy.

It might be time for Councilperson Dickey to take a long look in the mirror and reflect her treatment – which was unwarranted – and compare it with the many similar tactics of the left.
