Katy was born in Evansville, Ind. to Conrad Dannenberg and Mary Sid Dannenberg (ne Lannert) as the middle of three children – Katy and two boys. However, the firstborn died of illness as an infant and the youngest, David Dannenberg, of multiple sclerosis as a young teenager.

Katy grew up in Evansville and the rural countryside outside of town where she particularly enjoyed her horses that she trained and cared for. She graduated from Purdue University in 1959 and moved to Chicago after marrying Leonard Lloyd where she worked for Marshall Field’s department store in downtown Chicago.

Soon after, however, Katy moved to Peoria, Ill. in 1962 to begin raising a family of two children in 1966 the family moved to Barton, Ontario and then Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada before returning to Peoria in 1973 where Katy would reside for many years. In 1992 and newly single, Katy relocated to Fountain Hills which became her cherished adopted home and where she met Luther Peters with whom she would spend 20 years of blissful marriage. She also and enjoyed work at the Rio Verde Community Association office for nearly 14 years where she met many loving and caring friends.

Katy lived her life as a loving and caring mother and wife, who inspired harmony and kindness among all family members with her cheerful and kind nature. Her charity was best exemplified through her volunteer work that included knitting baby blankets and prayer shawls for others. To her immediate family she inspired gentleness and caring for others as a pathway for a rich and meaningful life. She loved Arizona and was inspired by the natural beauty that surrounded her, which she passionately shared with family and friends.

Katy is survived by her husband, Luther Peters; her son, Charles and Qin Lloyd and her daughter Julie and Steven Maegdlin, as well as four grandchildren, William, Cynthia, Sarah and Hannah, all of whom she loved dearly and in turn love and miss her deeply. Katy was fondly remembered by Luther’s children, Dawn and Chris Burrows, Lisa Peters and Kris and Jim Zink, also his grandchildren, Joshua and Amy Zink and Jordan Zink.

Donations and flowers may be sent to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church or Arizona Lutheran Cursillo Movement.
