James: It’s going to be a busy day

Posted

This Saturday, Dec. 7, can be a busy day for many.

At 10 a.m., the local Veterans Service Organizations (VSO) in town will host a Pearl Harbor Day Remembrance Ceremony at the Fountain Hills Veterans Memorial. State Senator and former AZ Secretary of State Ken Bennett will be the keynote speaker. As usual, members of the town's VSOs (American Legion Post 7507, Marine Corps League Detachment 1439 and VFW Post 7507) will each participate. The ceremony this year is led by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7507.

Shortly thereafter in the Community Center, Desert Valley Winds will host a patriotic concert. Then, in the evening, there is the Stroll in the Glow sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce. The public is invited to all of these free events.

I hope to see many of my fellow residents at each one of them, but particularly at the Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day Ceremony where we honor and remember all those who died and fought during WW II, but particularly those who fought and died at Pearl Harbor and especially those who did so in the Battleship USS Arizona BB39.
