Iverna B. Jelinek

Iverna B. Jelinek, 98, formerly of Park Ridge, Ill., gentle, loving mother and wife, passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2014 following a short illness.

Iverna was born in Chicago, Ill. on Oct. 14, 1915 to the late Sylvia and Julius Bjork. On Aug. 19, 1950 she married the love of her life, Adam J. Jelinek, who preceded her in death in 1982.

Surviving are daughter, Julie (Doug) Swanson of Fountain Hills; son, Paul (Lynn) Jelinek of Elkhart, Ind.; stepson, Michael (Margaret) Jelenic of Green Bay, Wis.; grandsons, Michael, Paul and Jonathan; great granddaughters, Margaret and Elizabeth; and special cousins.

Iverna attended Moser Secretarial School in Chicago and was employed by the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company as a secretary for 20 years.

After she married Adam and they started their family, she retired in 1955 to become a full-time mother and homemaker and became more actively involved in the ParkRidge Presbyterian Church Women’s Group, Bell Choir and Sunday School.

In 1994 she moved to Fountain Hills with her daughter where she resided until she returned to the Midwest in 2009.

Iverna enjoyed traveling with her daughter, arts and crafts, watching the Chicago Cubs, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Iverna was laid to rest at Eden Cemetery in Schiller Park, Ill. on Sept. 6, 2014.

Memorial gifts may be given to the Park Ridge Presbyterian Church or Senior Services of Fountain Hills, Inc.
