It’s time for action by the Fountain Hills Town Council

Posted

Fountain Hills’ government needs a big dose of Trump urgency!

There is a solid majority on the council that will stand with Mayor Gerry Friedel on critical issues. During the 2024 campaign, Fountain Hills voters said “no” to the same old same old, rejecting Ginny Dickey as mayor and choosing a new direction in electing Gerry Friedel. There are only two on council currently who likely would not stand with Mayor Friedel, that's Peggy McMahon and unfortunately Brenda Kalivianakis. Therefore, it's time for action by this council and for the mayor to strongly lead.

Specifically, get inspection provisions put back into the detox home ordinance, 5G is a bad ordinance and needs reforming, and please can we have the sign ordinance fixed? The nonsense about restricting political signage along large swaths of town roads must be taken out.

It also appears there are some who are determined Fountain Hills must be inundated with apartment complexes. That notion needs to be stopped. The mayor has convened an excellent Economic Development Committee, use them.

And here we go again with the schools; declining enrollment, woke programs, financial messes and now they are back requesting support for an override! How many times do we need to say no? Not until you get your house in order.

There are administrative and staffing matters at Town Hall that require action. Do we need a local version of Elon Musk to show us the way? If so, I have a couple of folks in mind.
