Not much comes easy for the Fountain Hills Unified School District. School districts in Arizona are among the most regulated and scrutinized government entities out there. They have little latitude when it comes to budgets and taxation. They are subject to economic trends, legislative cuts and the latest trends in educational philosophies.
But as they say – a win is a win is a win.
Those pushing for the town bonds to reconstruct Saguaro Boulevard sat back last Tuesday evening and cracked open the champagne, celebrating a decisive victory at the polls.

Those pushing for the town bonds to reconstruct Saguaro Boulevard sat back last Tuesday evening and cracked open the champagne, celebrating a decisive victory at the polls.
Campaign organizers for the school capital improvement bonds and budget overrides had to sweat it out a few days, however, since the final vote tallies were changing daily as the week progressed.
The narrow FHUSD victories prove once again, however, that every vote does matter, especially in a smaller community like ours where local issues are decided by less than 8,000 voters.
Yes, property owners will be paying more in taxes in the coming years due to these election decisions, however, we are confident that both the Town of Fountain Hills and officials with FHUSD will be using the additional tax revenues in an efficient and prudent manner.
The favorable rulings on these ballot box measures will be good things for Fountain Hills and all its citizens. We look forward to an improved boulevard and school district for years to come.
