I find it interesting; individuals stating that if we have a primary property tax that it will lower the value of the homes here in Fountain Hills. Wonder where they get that information. If that is correct then 15 of 25 cities in Maricopa County who have primary property tax homes must be falling in value. Wonder if Chandler, Glendale, Goodyear, Queen Creek, Tempe and Scottsdale know this.

There are some saying “close some of the parks.” We have seven park areas where the general fund expenditure is $1.1 million. So which parks should we close? Four Peaks ($111,000), Desert Vista ($88,000), open space/trails ($35,000), Town Hall ($84,000), Fountain Park ($435,000), Golden Eagle ($276,000) and Avenue of the Fountains Plaza ($93,000)? What do we do with the area when it is shut down?

“We need to invest in our infrastructure. We don’t have the money currently to pay for the infrastructure needs that we have in the city.” Sound familiar?

Well, this is not only being said in Fountain Hills but by our closet neighbor, Scottsdale. They are considering asking their families for a tax request, to step up as they also see the need to maintain their town. Scottsdale has a primary property tax, industry, entertainment areas where they get a lot more revenue than we do. Ask yourself, why is Scottsdale asking their families for more when they have a bigger revenue base? That is why Fountain Hills is asking its families to support the primary property tax. Vote yes.
