A letter last week from Mr. Scarpetti included an incorrect statement about the Sanitary District and questioned the integrity of the Board.
First of all, the Sanitary District does not control “the quality of the reclaimed water in the lake,” the Town is responsible. The District is responsible for the quality of water delivered to the lake and that water exceeds all regulations.
Mr. Scarpetti went on to say “it’s about time we elected someone with integrity who will be responsible to the people.” Inasmuch as I am a member of the Board, I take Mr. Scarpetti’s attack personally, because I believe I am “someone with integrity” who does look after the best interests of the people in Fountain Hills.

Your District Board oversees a 24/7/365 operation; the District never takes a holiday. Can you imagine the chaos if there was ever to be a “blackout” and you could not use the waste drains in your house? It should be obvious that the Board cannot wait for failures to occur; it must have foresight and plan ahead, and it does.
Your wastewater does not just magically disappear and take care of itself. What happens to your waste after it leaves your home is a very complex, technical and costly process.
To clarify some false statements and unfair accusations, your Sanitary District Board has integrity and is looking after your best interest.
